Is there firmware for this type of RAM please as I cannot find it on the Dell website. Had the temporary opportunity to swap the MT36HTF1G72FZ-667C1D4 with another brand and the fans spun down to 3.5k rpm. Whilst all cores, ram and chassis ambient temperature are optimal, the fans are still spinning fast an average of 8090 RPM and seems like the BMC is not optimizing fan control.Īfter much research I have come to notice that most probably the BMC is spinning the cooling fans at a much higher rate as it is not recongnising the brand of the RAM installed Micron MT36HTF1G72FZ-667C1D4. Both PSUs plugged in, no orange blinking light. It can even be caused by having a second PSU that's not plugged in. If a Dell has a blinking warning orange light instead of a solid blue, it turns it's fans onto full speed. It wasnt a beep code, because it was solid, during this the fans also ran louder than normal, despite temperatures being within normal limits. Make sure the system doesn't have any errors. Many people advise changing the fans or changing the BIOS, but I found that very risky. Everything boots fine but the OMSA reads the fans at 11-16k and gives the following error on boot. The system is running ESXI 6 and i have 1 Windows 7 VM. I have done some reading on the forums and what i have come to the conclusion on is that its the ESM chip on the motherboard that might be bad. I was very careful in moving it and after installing it in the new spot and firing it up, the FANS are just going crazy. I currently have a PowerEdge 1950 - I had it running on a shelve for about 6-8 months and finally moved it to a 1u wallmount on the wall in my office.
